The word "ambassador" gets thrown around way too much, especially on Instagram. It's the new age con. "Represent" my "brand" and I'll give you 30% off our range and you get a discount code you can give to your "followers" with a 5% kick back on sales. 😂 You are NOT an ambassador, you are a sales channel. None of your 127 followers cares about your discount code to some obscure apparel label. Sorry, that's the truth. So, instagram. Please stop it, just stop it. Now the rant is out of the way let's talk how you can actually be an ambassador for your sport. Obviously our sport is Powerlifting so naturally that's our focus but this can be applied to any sport really. The first thing is you are ALL ambassadors and representatives of our sport. Everything you say and do is a reflection on you as a person, your gym and the sport you represent. We've always encouraged our members to conduct themselves appropriately on social media and in person with others. Even if you are not a member here, consider that next time you decide to rant on social media or completely flame someone. What you say matters. That goes for anyone, in any walk of life. If you want to be an ambassador then it's simple, just be an awesome person. When new people come in to the gym, be helpful and supportive. Remember you were once where they were so don't judge someone when they walk in, they have their own story so be kind. It's actually sometimes what you don't do that's more harmful than what you do. A simple genuine smile and a "hello" goes a long way. If someone needs a spot, be there for them. If you have their back they'll have yours in return. These are the values or sport is built on. We want to encourage new people to come in to the sport and it's up to each and every one of you to be the ambassador. Growing our sport from the ground up requires the effort of everyone, not just those at the helm. If you can be that person, we all win.
