Competitive Phase Timing

Typically the last 4-5 weeks of a pre-competitive phase is very significant for competition day performance. You're not going to get stronger, but rather, realise your potential, which has been built over many months.⁣ The timing in this phase is very important, and more-so compared to a general phase of training, because it has a direct impact on whether you hit the platform at your true potential or not. ⁣ The purpose of this phase is to reduce an athletes fatigue levels, and prepare them to lift maximal weight (increase 1RM performance in that time).⁣ We find the most important factor to consider is volume (yes intensity is also considered), or overall training loads. Reducing volume over time is necessary to achieve optimal performance, but the timing must be right.⁣ The three lifts also behave very differently and we drop off training volumes in this order (deadlift then squat then bench press). A reduction in accessory movements is also necessary to reduce overall training loads.⁣ Leave your best lifts for the platform. Get the timing right. ⁣⁣⁣ ✔ Powerlifting Coaching⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✔ Online Coaching and Programs⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✔ Game Day Coaching⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✔ Competition Planning⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ✔ Technique and Skills Coaching
